SolVin rewards the innovation in PVC

The evening before the last day of the K 2013 on 22 October, the final ceremony for the fifth SolVin Award was held in Düsseldorf. This prize is awarded every three years in concomitance with the German trade fair for the most innovative PVC applications. Prizes were awarded to six projects selected by the jury from a total of 78 participants.
The top prize in the category "Innovation" went to the Spanish company Molecor for a PVC-O tube with 630 mm diameter which is 50% larger than the previous version, opening the door to new applications for corrosion-free PVC pipes. In the same category, second place went to Forbo Siegling, Germany, for its energy saving AmpMiser and BioBelts conveyor belts, made using materials from renewable sources, while the French group Depestele took the third place for its linen-based NanoVin reinforcements, developed using nanotechnology for structural components.
The Spanish company Plasticos Escanero took top prize in the "Recycling" category for its recycling process for industrial mud deriving from PVC, while the "Design" category awarded the Italian FIP for its Easyfit ball valves in PVC-U destined for use in the water distribution network. Basf, Rinolit and Sanquin were given special awards for developing materials for medical applications, including blood bags for paediatric usage.
