Ultra-light profiles

An extrusion line produced by Friul Filiere, based in Buia (Udine, Italy), has made it possible to introduce the world's first decking profile using the FFC (Foam Fibre Composite) ultra-light composite.
To process such a composite, the new Omega S Evolution line has been designed with counter-rotating twin-screw or special single-screw extruders. In the latter case, a degassing system makes the process cheap without altering product quality. Moreover the screw has been redesigned exploiting the energy deriving from shear stress, self-feeding the thermoregulation of the barrel-screw unit. The compression rate now provides an increase in output of 40-50% running at the same screw rpm.
