Swiss optimism

According to a recent survey conducted by the trade Association Swissmem among Swiss plastics and rubber machinery manufacturers, 83% of respondents was unsatisfied with 2009 turnover (the percentage drops to 78% concerning the profits), the same trend observed for the other European manufacturers. Regarding the workforce, 45% of companies has indicated a staff dismissing in the second half of 2009.
By 2010 there seems to be more optimism: 61% of respondents expected during the first six months of this year a recovery in the domestic market orders, in Western Europe (56%) and Asia (50%). Similarly, the expected turnover for the first six months of 2010 appears to be increasing for 60% of Swiss companies (the share rises to 70% considering the entire year).
