Solvin and the World Water Day

The international observance of World Water Day is an initiative that grew out of the 1992 United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED) in Rio de Janeiro. Since then the UN General Assembly designated 22 March of each year as the World Day for Water by adopting a resolution. Water management is a key issue for mankind. Hundreds of millions of people do not have access to drinking water and billions have no real sewage system. Drinking water and waste water pipes are core applications for PVC. PVC pipes allow providing fresh water to people in their homes and carrying water for irrigation to dry lands. PVC pipe system networks help save huge amounts of water due to their watertightness, and participate actively in human development (like agriculture). PVC pipes ensure a good water quality by contributing to health and hygiene, with evacuation and sewage systems that take waste water from homes, industries, etc. to water treatment plants. Thanks to their durability, lightness, easiness, cheapness and low maintenance, millions tons of PVC pipes are installed every year all over the world. Moreover, at the end of their life, PVC pipes can easily be recycled, contributing to a sustainable development of the mankind. Solvin decided to participate to this World Water Day as it is a unique opportunity to learn about all the potentials of drinking water and sewage pipes networks for all 3 pillars of Sustainability: Social, economical and environmental.
