PLA-based fibres under licence
NatureWorks and Trevira jointly announced on July 12 that Trevira of Bobingen, Germany, now holds a master license to manufacture Ingeo fibres. In the past 18 months, NatureWorks has seen significant interest among European Union converters, brand owners, and retailers in locally sourced, low-carbon footprint fibres and nonwovens for apparel, household, technical textiles, and personal care products. Ingeo is made from renewable plant materials, emitting up to 85 percent less greenhouse gas and requiring up to 69 percent less energy to manufacture into resin when compared to traditional polymers.
