Sabic had a strong presence at the World Cup final in its own way. One of its star players - polycarbonate - performed excellently, along with Xavi, Robben and Sneijder, key players of Spain and The Netherlands which played the final in Johannesburg, South Africa, on July 11. The goals of polycarbonate did not count in the final tally, but nonetheless had a strong impact on the thousands of fans present at the stadium and on the millions who watched on television around the world.
The Soccer City Stadium in Johannesburg, where the final took place, is covered by a 14,000 sqm roof made of PC sheet. This sheet delivers the clarity of glass without the drawbacks of weight and fragility. It is also carefully designed to resemble flowing water and protects up to 95,000 spectators from changing weather conditions. It also admits natural light, creating a pleasant ambiance.
