Mulch Film

The 28th edition of Macfrut, 5-7 October 2011, marked the introduction of the first certificate guaranteeing the ecological quality of technical means used in organic and sustainable agriculture. The certificate was issued to Novamont by Icea (Institute for Ethical and Environmental Certification) for its mulch films made of Mater-Bi.
Icea has initiated a specific process for certifying environmental performance with the goal of contributing to the achievement of a more sustainable agricultural system oriented toward improvements in the chemical, physical and biological characteristics of soil, and toward reduction in need for irrigation. The specifications also focus on reducing the risks of soil and water contamination deriving from the addition of agricultural products (fertilizers, pesticides, etc.) and on obtaining produce free of chemical residues.
