LyondellBasell produces 2 million tons of multimodal HDPE in Europe
LyondellBasell has achieved a 2-million tons production of multimodal HDPE thanks to the introduction of the ACP (Advanced Cascade Process) technology. This represent a remarkable goal for the Dutch company, whose Hostalen ACP resins are used in small and large blow moulding, pipe and films applications. In blow moulding applications, the combination of environmental stress cracking resistance and stiffness allows the reduction of wall thickness. Compared to standard monomodal and bimodal HDPE grades, LyondellBasell tests have shown that raw material savings can be achieved, along with lighter-weight final products. Multimodal grades will also be made available for the Asian markets, as a result of the joint-venture Saudi Ethylene and Polyethylene Company. Early this year, LyondellBasell began licensing the Hostalen ACP process globally.
