Korean elastomersfor Versalis

On 5 October, Versalis signed an agreement with Honam Petrochemical Corporation for the production of elastomers in South Korea using the Italian company's proprietary technology. The new plant, which will be started up in the year 2015 in the Honam facility in Yeosu, will have a production capacity of 200 thousand tons per year, destined mainly for Asian markets. Versalis will provide engineering services, commercial development capabilities, and technical support, while its Asian partner will supply the principal raw materials and the necessary operating facilities.
The agreement, signed in Milan by Versalis managing director, Daniele Ferrari and by Honam Petrochemical Corporation CEO, Sooyoung Huh, lays the groundwork for a joint venture that will strengthen the position of the Italian company in the global market, and especially in the Asian-Pacific region. This joint venture comes alongside the inauguration of the new Versalis plant in Shanghai, and the joint venture with Petronas for the development and joint operation of a production plant in Malaysia.
