Kingsbury and Negri Bossi: details for the future

After the announcement that Sacmi has sold the whole plastics division to the American company Kingsbury, Negri Bossi has issued an official press release to provide further details on the transaction and on its practical consequences. Ausable Capital Partners and Kingsbury have formed a venture that acquired all the assets of the Negri Bossi group from Sacmi Imola. The sale includes all assets of the Negri Bossi business units which incorporate manufacturing facilities in Italy and India, and manufacturing partnerships in China and the Czech Republic, along with sales and service subsidiaries in many international locations.
The Negri Bossi portfolio of products includes the Negri Bossi and BM Biraghi injection moulding machine brands, along with the Sytrama product range of Cartesian robots and automation related products. The company is one of the few manufacturers in Italy to have a product range that extends up to 7000 tons and that today includes hydraulic, hybrid and all-electric machines, and related automation, and servicing the most injection moulding markets.
Ausable Capital Partners principal, Matthew Galvez, has extensive experience in injection moulding, having led the original purchase of Waltec Plastics from Emco (now known as Baytech Plastics) and was an active board member of that organization for 4 years. Furthermore, he was the CEO of Nematron Corporation (Ann Arbor, Michigan), a manufacturer of industrial computers, PLC accessories and related automation products from 1998 to 2002. Ausable also acted as an advisor to William Pollock in his purchase of Kingsbury Corporation during 2012. Now Galvez is the chairman of Negri Bossi.
The new owners are keen to maintain the ongoing development of the Negri Bossi product family, and also to provide a range of products to address all of the key vertical markets in "high growth" geographies that have potential and existing customers for Negri Bossi machines and Sytrama automation products. With the help of Kingsbury, it is expected that Negri Bossi will be able to bring significant manufacturing of injection moulding machines back to the United States, and also will be able to provide the installation, automation and support services necessary to competently address key vertical markets such as automotive, packaging, electronics, pharmaceuticals and appliances.
It is planned that the strong engineering and development competence of Kingsbury and its partner, Optimation Technologies, will help in product design, development and manufacture for both Negri Bossi machines and Sytrama robots. Also, the extensive North American footprint of Kingsbury and its partner should enhance the ability to provide complete solutions to customers and to build and grow extensive customer relationships in North America and Mexico. Conversely, the worldwide infrastructure of Negri Bossi and Sytrama will provide a platform for Kingsbury to grow in the European market.
The Negri Bossi offices and factory in Cologno Monzese (Milan, Italy) will continue to be the major center for design, development, and manufacturing of injection moulding machines and robots. The Negri Bossi companies will continue to be operated and managed by the Italian based team. However, Matthew Galvez, William Pollock and Luca Berrone, the president of Sacmi Usa, along with Pietro Cassani, general manager of Sacmi Imola, will enter in the board of the company. Sacmi Imola will continue to manufacture Bi-Power machines on behalf of Negri Bossi.
