Italian technology in Slovenia
On May 19 2011 the Italian company Aquafil (based near Trento) started in Ljubljana the first plant in the world for the recovery of nylon-based waste (like fishing nets, fitted carpets, tulle etc.) which can be treated in order to obtain caprolactam (raw material of PA6).
The plant, opened in the presence of the Italian Minister of Economic Development Paolo Romani and the Slovenian Minister of Economics Darja Radic, is part of an existing site and represents the first real goal scored by the Euronyl project launched by Aquafil in 2009.
It required an investment of 15 million euro and allows to process 28 tonnes/day of PA6 waste, recovered thanks to a strong cooperation with consortia, private bodies and customers.
At its full capacity, the plant will receive 11,000 tonnes of waste which will become 10,000 tonnes of new raw material.
