Eiffel Tower test
Three new Ultramid CR products belong to the Basf polyamide family, ideal for rapidly absorbing a great deal of energy in demanding situations.
An almost classic application is the so-called LBS (lower bumper stiffener), used by Opel as a stiffening element below the front bumper for anti-shock pedestrian protection.
To develop and test such new materials, Basf created a bending and torsion Eiffel Tower-like specimen with a 45° ribbing. The new grades withstand distortion by the enormous angle of up to 240° without being damaged. Nowadays, there is hardly any other material class on the market that can undergo such a load and remain intact.
