Award for innovative thermoforming

The winners of the European Thermoforming Parts Competition 2014 were announced during the ninth European Thermoforming Conference "Forming a sustainable future", held in Prague on 3 and 4 April and organized by SPE (Society of Plastics Engineers). The competition, now in its fifth year, was launched in 2006 to promote advanced developments and design in thermoformed manufactured goods through the most innovative applications in terms of originality, creativity, mould complexity and technical ability.
There was a winner for each of the three categories. The company Walter Pack won first place for its door component for the electric car, Twizy, by Renault. The recognition was given for the high aesthetic quality of the part, which is however capable of meeting the most rigorous tolerance specifications for automobile applications. The "Telia Sign" by Logofarm received an award for its innovative design with aesthetically perfect undercuts, creating new production opportunities for smaller thermoformed volumes. Lastly, Company Protective Packaging Systems, won top prize for its "LO-G Retail Carry Pack". This innovative packaging incorporates shock-resistant thermoformed elements to protect particularly delicate electronic parts during storage and transportation.
