Treatment of plastics: Forrec’s contributionForrec technology in processes for the valorisation of plastic materials

Great projects are often born from great collaborations, as teamwork is like an equation in which work is divided and successes are multiplied.

Forrec is a company that designs and manufactures single machines for shredding and waste reduction, often the company works in partnership with companies which complete its processes in order to allow the customer to have a turn-key plant.

For the treatment of plastic, the Forrec’s contribution is limited to the grinding and granulation of the plastics, the following treatments of plastic re-generation: washing, sorting, separation and extrusion are all completed by partners dealing with this company.

In order to start the whole process, Forrec has designed a single shaft grinder the XM model, perfectly adapted to the needs of the customers and optimized to withstand the amount of work required. All systems are in fact designed to work continuously 24/24 - 7/7.

The grinders X2000M and X2500M are the machines that have been applied to the processes: robust single-shaft machines with motors ranging from 132 up to 200 kW, power defined according to the type of material to be treated and the required output size. All machines have an 80mm sieve, an ideal size for subsequent washing and extrusion treatments. Welded rotor and flat plates for higher performance. All these parts are however customizable according to customer requests.

The treated plastics can be very different: natural coloured HDPE, coloured HDPE and PP Polypropylene. The product to treat is often a post-consumer that arrives packed and dosed to the grinder after also passing an optical selection. The tests to the lines have clearly shown that the machines have exceeded expectations in terms of capacity even in the continuous work requested by the customer.

There are still many projects on the horizon with companies that are evaluating the technology and have expressed great interest in the proposed system.
