The plant and calendering systems manufacturer for rubber and plastics, Rodolfo Comerio, has launched the Comerio Calendering Technology Center, a new international technology hub dedicated to research, development and experimentation in industrial calendering. Thanks to its location within a major Italian manufacturing district, the new facility will serve as a dynamic platform open to collaboration with companies, designers, product developers and researchers.

The centre offers an integrated environment designed to develop, test and validate innovative calendering processes on an industrial scale, using two state-of-the-art calendering lines. Among its main features are real-time data collection for feasibility studies and process simulations, as well as high-efficiency custom systems focused on waste reduction, energy efficiency, rapid production changeovers and improved performance.

The new centre also aims to become a cutting-edge facility for sustainable industrial development, supported by the company’s technical department. Its focus lies in designing solutions that promote circular economy principles, waste and scrap reduction, energy efficiency and enhanced industrial performance.

The two lines it houses are dedicated to a wide range of applications. LAB1 - FloorEng is used for the production of durable flooring made from polymers and highly filled composite materials, including elastomers and specialised formulations for the automotive, aerospace and industrial sectors. LAB2, thanks to its versatility, is employed for the flexible manufacturing of products for furniture, packaging, waterproof membranes, conveyor belts, and tyre and automotive components.

“Our aim is to provide a global space for companies to test, innovate and refine their production processes - all with a sustainable, data-driven approach,” the company stated.
