Butterflies in the mould
Negri Bossi's presence at Eurostampi, a tradeshow within Mecspe, is focussed on the Eleos 80 injection moulding machine, deriving from the EOS series but with electrically driven plastification, injection, and mould opening/closing. The clamping unit has a dual-platen configuration, with the mobile element sliding on prismatic guides and recirculating ball bearings. This ensures excellent parallelism between the two platens. Furthermore, the lack of lubricating oil keeps the moulding area clean, making Eleos ideal for use in clean-room applications. In this regard, the choice to present the machine at the fair configured to produce polypropylene butterfly valves for IVs, a biomedical application using an 8-cavity mould, was anything but random.
The press is also characterized for its precision and energy savings. Like all models in the Negri Bossi line (especially the Smart Energy versions), the Eleos features extremely low electricity consumption thanks to its energy recovery system, which ensures quick achievement of a positive return on investment.
