Thermoforming in open house
Based on the experience acquired with the previous F36 model, but completely redesigned, the new F37 thermoforming machine by OMV Machinery (now part of the Polytype group) features a fully electric drive system, servomotors and a wider forming area, making it possible to mount moulds with more cavities and thus increase productivity. The cutting system is now fully electric, too, which has eliminated the need for the maintenance operations that are necessary with hydraulic systems. In addition, this thermoforming machine can be equipped with an on-board rim rolling device for cups (OMV patent), which allows the production of rolled rims on cups even before the stacking and unloading operations. "This is an extremely versatile thermoforming machine", remarked Maurizio Amaro, sales manager of OMV Machinery, "which is able to process all the main thermoplastics to manufacture a wide range of end products. It has been designed for the manufacture of truncated conical containers (such as cups and jars, even very deep ones), but it can also produce several other kinds of item, since it allows quick and easy installation of very different moulds. This machine is a direct rival to the most renowned models manufactured by the best Italian and foreign operators".
Three integrated online extrusion and thermoforming systems, including the F37, have already been ordered by a major Portuguese company, and they will be ready by the summer of 2014. The first line is currently being delivered, while the second is the highlight of an open house event taking place from 9 to 11 April at OMV's facility in Verona. "The event, which includes the official presentation of the new F37 machine, is aimed at a number of potential new customers, as well as by our regular ones, of course", added Maurizio Amaro. "I also would like to point out that these three systems come with a wide range of moulds, all designed and manufactured by OMV. In this way, we have full control over the final quality of the moulds and the time required to produce them. It should not be forgotten that we are proud to offer turnkey solutions, including both the extrusion and the thermoforming sections, with their respective moulds, all completely engineered, manufactured and assembled at our facility in Verona. As a result, each system is guaranteed by a single supplier, providing the customer with a one-stop source. This is an unusual strategy even among foreign competitors, who normally rely on external suppliers for the extrusion section and/or the moulds".
