The second time in Düsseldorf

Some 300 delegates attended the International AVK Conference on Fibre-Reinforced Plastics/Composites, which was held in Düsseldorf for the second time, on October 6 and 7. Over 30 international speakers from industry and research presented new solutions for production processes as well as innovative materials and the latest applications. The programme featured topics with relevance to the entire composites industry, such as recycling and standardisation, and also the annual GRP and CRP market reports.

“The development of GRP production volumes in Europe got off to a very good start in 2014. The first half of the year exceeded the expectations of most market players”, said Elmar Witten, managing director of AVK (German professional association for fibre composite plastics/composites). On the evening of the first day 10 companies and institutes were given the prestigious AVK Innovation Award. This was followed by the Composites Night together with the exhibitors of Composites Europe - again, an excellent communication platform in a pleasant atmosphere.

As before, the conference acted as the kick-off event for the Composites Europe trade fair held from October 7 to 9, coinciding with the Aluminium trade fair.

From next year the AVK Conference will be replaced by a conference entitled Composites Germany, which will be held in Stuttgart from September 21 to 22, 2015.
