Lab-line unit in North America
In collaboration with a leading European manufacturer of cutting systems, Icma San Giorgio (Milan, Italy) has launched a lab-line unit for testing in Monroe (near Detroit), Michigan, United States. This compounding and pelletizing line unit, equipped with Icma’s 50 mm diameter co-rotating extruder from the MCM high torque family, is particularly versatile and covers a wide range of compounds, including engineering polymers and filled compounds. The line also comprises a gravimetric dosing system from Engin Plast and a control system from Gefran, two well-known Italian companies that have teamed up with Icma for its North American development plan. Through this initiative Icma completes the renovation of its North American operating platform, started two years ago with Prescott Machine, in Saginaw, Michigan, company’s general agent for the sales and local service for its North American customers. “My company has a good tradition in the North American market, where it has operated for more than thirty years with success stories in both the compound and direct extrusion field. The project to strengthen our local presence reflects Icma’s commitment to better serve a market that, thanks to the re-shoring of many manufacturing activities, is particularly active, also for our European customers that are opening or already started production activities in the US”, said Giorgio Colombo, managing director of Icma San Giorgio. “Having a production line for testing in this market offers a greater opportunity to those American companies wishing to test Icma’s extruders locally, and it is also a way to improve its market opportunities”, added Ray Miller, CEO of Prescott Machine.
