Union steps into the blown film market

The K 2019 exhibition seems set to become an important milestone for Union. At the German fair, the company, in addition to displaying its latest technological innovations in the field of flat-head extrusion (its traditional field of activity), will announce its entry into the market of blown film extrusion plants for biodegradable and compostable films.

In July, the manufacturer based in San Vittore Olona (near Milan) purchased a majority stake in Tecom, a company from Olgiate Olona (near Milan), as a result adding blown film extrusion lines destined for applications such as bags, shoppers, agricultural packaging, pallet shrink films, etc. to its current range of sheet, plate, panel, pipe and rigid and expanded profile production systems.

In particular, Tecom is a specialist manufacturer of blown film extrusion lines using polypropylene and compostable biopolymers (the latter marketed under the GoBio brand) for the production of single-layer, two-layer and three-layer packaging films.
