Joint forces

A co-operation agreement between Solvay Advanced Polymers and Mitsubishi Gas Chemical (MGC) is aimed at the development of a line of renewably-sourced specialty polymers. The joint work is focused on the introduction of high-temperature bio-based polyamides - which will complement Solvay's Amodel PPA product line - for high-performance durable applications. With a heat deflection temperature of 270°C approx. for glass-filled compounds, the new materials based on sebacic acid derived from castor oil, are expected to show greater thermal performance than many current bio-based polyamides and polyesters.
