German production

The turnover achieved in 2010 by the German plastics processing industry exceeded 51 billion euro, thus a 14% increase in comparison with 2009 and close to the record 2008 level of 52.3 billion. Such growth reversed the drop faced in 2009.
In volume, the production of plastics articles topped 12 million ton, or 7% more than 2009. Exports' trend was particularly good, recovering the losses suffered in 2009, whilst domestic market, although restoring a considerable level, was a little slower.
Looking at the final applications, according to figures provided by the trade Association GKV, there was a rebound for technical components, especially for automotive and electrical/electronic industries. Good results also for packaging products (+14% the relevant turnover) whilst those for the building industry recorded a moderate +5%.
