Echoes fromBuenos Aires

The fourteenth edition of the Argenplas fair took place June 18-22 at the Costa Salguero fairgrounds in Buenos Aires. As in 2010 the owner, Alcantara Machado, entrusted organization of the event to Reed Exhibitions Argentina with the support of CAIP (Argentine Chamber of the Plastics Industry). There was not a big difference in numbers with respect to the 2010 edition in terms of overall exhibition space, which is estimated at a maximum of 8,000-9,000 square metres. According to the official catalogue, just under 200 exhibitors participated in the fair, including 20 Italian companies in addition to those participating in the collective stand organized by Assocomaplast (Association of Italian plastics and rubber processing machinery and moulds manufacturers). The Italians were only overshadowed by the Chinese. While we await official figures on visitor numbers and origins, the organizer has provided initial estimates of 16,000 for the four days (similar to 2010), concentrated mainly in the central period and prevalently Argentinians.
