The IPS is ready for industrial application
Launched last year by Sacmi, the IPS (Injection Preform System) machines for the injection moulding of preforms have now completed the debugging phase. Indeed, in March 2012, a 4-cavity model with a 220-ton clamping force was installed at the facilities of Gardaplast (in Polpenazze del Garda, near Brescia, Italy), a supplier of preforms to leading mineral water and soft drink producers, for a period of testing and fine tuning under real working conditions.
After ten months of continuous operation the system, according to the manufacturer, has reached and surpassed the quantitative and qualitative performance targets set at the time of starting up. The objectives that have driven the development of this range of machines are: performance, in terms of cycle times and reduced consumption; ergonomics and user-friendliness, thanks to an innovative user interface and integrated control of the entire plant; flexibility, in part achieved through rapid mould and pick-up unit changeovers.
