A new licence for the production of FFC ultralight composite
At two recent fairs, Interplastica (Moscow, 28-31 January 2014) and Samuplast (Pordenone, 29 January-1 February 2014), Friul Filiere announced that it has granted German company Polymer-Chemie a licence to produce, in pellets or dry-blend form, its patented ultralight composite material named FFC (Foam Fiber Composite), which has become a material of choice for the production of different types of profile.
For some time now, this Friuli-based manufacturer has been actively developing technologies for the expansion of PVC-, PP- and PS-based materials for different uses. The development of FFC gave rise to a series of dedicated projects requiring specific analyses for the creation of extrusion systems able to guarantee the highest production performance levels and, at the same time, to turn out products that respect precise parameters.
At Samuplast, in particular, where the company exhibited an Omega Evolution extrusion line, which incorporates technology developed specifically for the processing of this material, and an R63 twin-screw extruder, the company gave daily demonstrations of how FFC in pellets can be extruded in the form of a skirting profile.
