Growth in rubber

According to data from IRSG (International Rubber Study Group), total world rubber consumption will increase to 25.8 million tons this year and to 27.5 million in 2012.
Global demand for synthetic rubber is forecast to grow by 4.4% to 14.7 million tons in 2011 and by another 7.9% in 2012, reaching a level of 15.8 million tons. For natural rubber, on the other hand, IRSG has calculated a 2.6% rise to 11.1 million tons during the current year and forecasts an additional 5.5% in 2012 for a total of 11.7 million tons.
