Light and shadowfor Plastpol
The final results are not in yet for the eighteenth edition of Plastpol, which took place in Kielce, Poland on 27-30 May. According to surveys by Assocomaplast, which had its own information stand at the fair, the total number of visitors did not exceed the 17,000 recorded during the previous edition (the organizers have not yet published the official figure), in spite of a greater number of exhibitors, which should have attracted more operators. It was only on the second day of the fair that there seemed to be a significant number of visitors.
The fair covered approximately 13,700 square metres (as opposed to 12,000 in 2013) with 744 exhibitors (662 in 2013). The field was strongly dominated by local firms (more than half, many of them representing foreign manufacturers), followed by Germans, Italians, Chinese and Taiwanese. Some seventy Italian companies were represented either with their own stands or in those of their local agents.
The quality of the contacts was not particularly high, evidencing a certain dichotomy between the vivacity of the Polish market (Italian exports to Poland for the sector registered a 4.8% increase in 2013) and the rather subdued performance of the fair. The next edition of Plastpol is scheduled for 26-29 May 2015.
