Athena and Sipa end collaboration on PET preform injection moulding systems

The common agreement between Athena Automation (Vaughan, Ontario) and Sipa (Vittorio Veneto, Italy), involving injection moulding systems for PET preforms, has come to an end. The two companies began a formal collaboration in late 2012 on equipment based around small and medium-sized injection moulding machines (with clamp forces of 150 and 300 tons) built by Athena and equipped with process and preform moulds built by Sipa. Working together has been an excellent experience for Sipa and Athena and Image removed.both parties have benefitted from the collaboration.

Sipa will continue to support Athena in the area of PET preform injection moulding. Actual and future customers benefitting from the use of systems built by Athena and Sipa will continue to receive excellent support from both companies. Over the last three years, Sipa has demonstrated its capacity to integrate equipment from Athena with its own moulds and process technology, to provide customers with highly cost-effective and energy efficient production systems.

Sipa is the second largest PET mould manufacturer in the world and entered the preform systems market 20 years ago. With over 500 preform systems installed in 60 countries worldwide, Sipa has been providing the market with product and process innovations and will continue to highly invest in this segment.
